7 Albino and Ring Neck Pheasants

Some days on my water delivery route God gave me a gift, today I got two! I have shot photographs of Ring Neck’s before, but typically at a distance. Running down a dirt country road, I spied the pheasant next to an irrigation ditch and it just so happen that I had on me, my new Nikon D90 and a 300 mm lens.

The young Ringer was close, at least 25 feet. I did not dare to get out of the truck, and was in the perfect position for some snapshots. Happy as dogs rolling around in cow shit, I was snapping away when I noticed something moving in the brush, something… “white,” my jaw dropped.

It was a albino Ring Neck Pheasant! I never have seen one before! Ever!! I have however have seen a golden pheasant briefly through the brush, but never a albino! And I had a camera, HA!  I have of course heard of them, in work break rooms and conversations in smoky dark bar rooms with a glass of Jack, pressed into my paw. I might have even said I had seen one or two (using my imagination).

What a great day enough to make one crow the fact!

Roger, wow that is amazing. I never seen any in real life. I you sure someone didn't spray paint the albino one, lol. Thanks for sharing Roger and letting me know. I like your blog a lot now too. Very professional. You really evolved, I remember the one with the old man telling jokes (that was good, me and my husband used to listen to him all the time), and the xmas balls, lol. Anna :)

That is awesome you seen the albino. We have a huge rooster that lives in the field behind us... He has quite the harem... and a lucky guy because we're in city limits and no hunting... I've tried taking a few photo's over the fence but he doesn't like me very well... They sure move fast.

An amazing gift indeed! Ring necks are one of my favorite birds, second only to the blue herron's. I have never been able to get them in pictures yet. You, my friend did one hell of a job! Pardon my french!!!
