4 Common Goldeneye

ducks

A trip to Hells Canyon last weekend, gave me the opportunity to figure out what kind of duck was in my camera viewer and then after post processing after a few searches. The identification was the Common Goldeneye. A interesting duck it almost reminds me of a magpie if it were a bird and not a duck.

The magpie of ducks

common goldeneye

This is what Wikipedia says about it

The species is aptly named for its golden-yellow eye. Adult males have a dark head with a greenish gloss and a circular white patch below the eye, a dark back and a white neck and belly. Adult females have a brown head and a mostly grey body. Their legs and feet are orange-yellow.

Wonderful reflections in your 'ducky' photo! Did I mention I loved the Canadian geese in my previous comment because I do!
Hugs and blessings,

Pretty! Especially those white markings.

Wish we had more ducks here, seems like mallards and Canada geese dominate. Excellent captured and nicely framed Roger. Anna :)
